Monday Night Football Week 5 Odds And Viewing Info
The New Orleans Saints will play host to the Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football to conclude Week 5 of the 2018 NFL season. It’s an intriguing matchup between two teams that have played well over the first month of the campaign. Washington has outperformed expectations, going 2-1 before a Week 4 bye, while New Orleans—now 3-1—hasn’t lost since it was stunned in a shootout with the Buccaneers in the opener.
Will the Saints be able to keep their winning streak going with a Week 5 “W” in the Superdome, or will the ‘Skins ground their foe’s high-flying offense and continue their string of upsets as an underdog tonight? Pro handicapper Jon Price of SportsInformationTraders.com sent along a prediction for the outcome of this primetime affair that you will not want to miss. Before checking out who he has not only winning, but also covering the spread tonight, have a peek at the full schedule, kickoff start time, TV channel, live stream coverage and updated odds for this Monday Night Football clash. Oddsmakers are projecting the Saints to pick up their fourth victory in a row tonight, opening the club as a sizable, 6.5-point favorite. It’s worth noting that these teams met last year for a game that New Orleans ultimately won 34-31, but weren’t able to cover in as 9.5-point chalk. Mark Ingram, who missed the first four games of 2018 while serving suspension, was unstoppable for the Saints in that victory, racking up 134 yards and a score on only 11 carries. He’ll be returning to the lineup tonight, helping ease the load on backfield partner Alvin Kamara, who has been putting up impressive numbers out of the gate in his second season.
The Saints haven’t fared well as large favorites this year, however, failing to beat 10-point spreads in both Week 1 and Week 2. The franchise is 2-2 against the spread on the season, although just 1-2 ATS when laying points. Washington, on the other hand, is 2-1 ATS and an undefeated 2-0 ATS as an underdog. The ‘Skins have not only covered in both games in which they were getting points—in Week 1 at Arizona and Week 3 at Green Bay—but also outright won those contests as a road ‘dog.
The sportsbooks are expecting a lot of points to be scored this evening, pegging the over/under at 53. Considering that Washington boasted the second-best scoring defense in the league going into Week 5, allowing a mere 14.7 points per game to foes, that number might seem a bit high. The Saints ability to manufacture scores definitely plays a big part in that lofty total, as their offense has been generating a whopping 34.3 points per game across the first four weeks of the season. New Orleans has also had problems keeping teams off the scoreboard, giving up more than 30 points per game on average. For that reason, the Redskins have a great shot outperforming their average of 21.3 points per game and pushing this one over the total.
